Your First Visit
Embarking on orthodontic treatment can be a daunting prospect for some, at what ever age you are! I hope that some of the information below will help you understand the process and stages involved.
Once you have booked an appointment, you will receive a welcome email with a link to complete our registration form. You will also receive a further email and SMS confirming your appointment details. If you prefer we can send a paper verision out in the post. Information about how to find us will be included. You will also find useful information on this website.
On arrival you will be greeted by the receptionist on the ground floor who will show you to the waiting room. If you were not able to complete our registration form before the appointment, a paper version can be provided.
Your consultation will last approximately half an hour. At this consultation, our specialist orthodontist Dr Manara will ask what your main areas of concern are, and what you would wish to have improved. He will examine your teeth, and where they are in-relation to your face when you smile and at rest. Dr Manara will outline how he would be able to straighten your teeth and improve your smile. The fee for this appointment is £195.
Most people associate orthodontics with metal braces. Nowadays, there are several other appliances which are less visible. These include:
- Sequential clear aligners such as Invisalign®
- Lingual braces (placed behind the teeth) such as Incognito® and Win® which are designed specifically for your own teeth.
- There are several other types of appliances when treating young children from expanders to functional appliances.
These appliances will be discussed and examples shown. An outline of the treatment possibilities will be given.
If you wish to start the treatment process, orthodontic diagnostic records will be needed which consist of photographs of your smile and teeth, 3D optical scan of your teeth, and radiographs (X-Ray pictures). The 3D optical scans replace the dental impressions of the past. The information from these records will be studied, and discussed with you at a separate treatment planning appointment. The additional fee is £275. Dr Manara will recommend the best treatment plan, including any treatment alternatives that may be available, and will discuss these in detail. This visit ensures mutual understanding about the proposed treatment and the desired result.
Before you start treatment, the treatment plan decided upon will be confirmed in writing, as well as the fees and payment methods available.
