Dr Simon Manara
Dr Simon Manara qualified as a dentist in 1991 from Guy’s Hospital, University of London (now part of the GKT Institute). He held posts in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and took his Fellowship in Dental Surgery. Further experience was gained in general dental practice and paediatric dentistry. He enrolled on a three year full time post-graduate orthodontic training programme at Birmingham Dental School.
He became a specialist in orthodontics in 2001, when he received his Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons in England and Glasgow. He was also awarded his Masters of Philosophy in orthodontics from the University of Birmingham in the same year.
In 2000 he received a Fellowship from the Winston Churchill Trust which allowed him to travel to the USA and Sweden to learn more of the research being undertaken into stationary anchorage which reduces the need for extractions or headgear.
Dr Simon Manara has practiced orthodontics exclusively since 1999. He is on the specialist list of the General Dental Council in orthodontics and oral surgery. He has a particular interest in early treatment in appropriate cases, lingual braces in teenagers, and the use of advanced anchorage devices.
